Spanish companies showcase the business value of sustainability in New York

Several Spanish companies have brought to the UN week in New York business cases that provide concrete results on how sustainability can generate efficiency, reduce risks, and strengthen business competitiveness.

The UN Global Compact Spain has presented a publication that brings together nine business cases from Spanish companies, as part of the UN Global Compact Week and the UN High-Level Week. The presentation took place at the Chrysler Building and brought together business and institutional representatives to discuss the role of sustainability in the competitiveness and positioning of the country's business fabric.

The publication includes Business Cases from Iberdrola, Iberostar, Roca Group, Sacyr, Telefónica, CaixaBank, FCC, ACCIONA and BBVA, with initiatives linked to energy transition, nature protection, industrial decarbonisation, climate action, gender equality, business integrity, ESG data, and supply chain sustainability.

In this regard, results such as those from Telefónica, which has improved its energy efficiency by 90% per unit of traffic since 2015, despite increasing its network traffic by 9.3 times, resulting in savings of over 540 million euros; or from Sacyr, which has addressed more than 125 European environmental requirements by strengthening its environmental assessment capabilities and has increased its eligibility for public tenders that require detailed information on impacts and dependencies related to nature.
