Cecabank will stop providing data to the Euribor panel from 30 September

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the regulator and supervisor of EU financial markets, has issued a statement regarding the upcoming changes to the Euribor panel, in its capacity as supervisor of the European Money Market Institute (EMMI), the administrator of Euribor.

This statement refers to EMMI's announcement that Cecabank, based in Spain, will withdraw from the Euribor panel. The withdrawal will take effect on 30 September 2026, the date on which the bank will stop providing data for the determination of the reference index.

ESMA and the National Competent Authorities of the Euribor Supervisors' College have assessed the impact of Cecabank's exit on the representativeness of Euribor in the euro unsecured money market. ESMA and the College concluded that Cecabank's exit does not pose a risk to the representativeness of Euribor.

This exit comes after a period of expansion of the Euribor panel, with the addition of four new banks since 2022, including the recent addition of KBC Bank in May 2026. ESMA continues to encourage credit institutions active in the euro unsecured money market to consider the possibility of joining the Euribor panel, actively supporting the robustness and representativeness of this fundamental reference index within the EU financial system.
