Île-de-France Mobilités has awarded CAF a contract worth over 150 million euros for the supply of 15 tram trains intended for the expansion of the T13 line, which will connect Saint-Germain-en-Laye with Achères.
The contract additionally includes the option for the supply of spare parts for the fleet, as well as additional trains. The new rolling stock is expected to be manufactured at the plant that CAF has in Bagnères-de-Bigorre, in the French region of Hautes-Pyrénées.
The T13 line, inaugurated in 2022 and operated by RATP Cap Île-de-France, serves the west of Paris and facilitates connections with the RER, Transilien, and TER networks. The expansion aims to improve mobility in the area, reduce travel times, and achieve a frequency of 10 minutes during peak hours, reinforcing intermodality with the RER A, RER E, and Transilien L lines.
The new vehicles will be based on CAF's URBOS platform. They will be 42 meters long, 2.65 meters wide, and have a capacity for 86 seated passengers and 170 standing. Additionally, 75% of their surface will have a low floor, facilitating access for people with reduced mobility. They will include air conditioning and dynamic information systems for passengers.
From a strategic point of view, the operation confirms the company’s commitment and strengthens its industrial and commercial presence in the French market, consolidating it as one of the main ones for the group, and from a financial perspective, it adds future revenue visibility.
The amount of over 150 million euros represents approximately 0.85% of CAF's record total order book at the end of 1H26 (€17.743 billion) and 0.96% of the railway order book (€15.609 billion).
